Remaking the World
I agree with Gregory Orr that we are about the process of remaking the world. And as humans, language, words, are essential and ought to be carefully used and considered. And to his remaking, dusting off, and arraying I would add silence. Moments of not just listening but gazing at the rearrangements and letting that which draws us to this effort of reconciliation, responding and re-cognition, speak to us and show us the way.
“Let’s remake the world with words”
Written by Gregory Orr
Listen
Let’s remake the world with words.
Not frivolously, nor
To hide from what we fear,
But with a purpose.
Not frivolously, nor
To hide from what we fear,
But with a purpose.
Let’s,
As Wordsworth said, remove
“The dust of custom” so things
Shine again, each object arrayed
In its robe of original light.
As Wordsworth said, remove
“The dust of custom” so things
Shine again, each object arrayed
In its robe of original light.
And then we’ll see the world
As if for the first time,
As once we gazed at the beloved
Who was gazing at us.
As if for the first time,
As once we gazed at the beloved
Who was gazing at us.
